We are joining forces with both Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace in upcoming events to raise awareness about responsible animal care, display our local community support, and demonstrate the value that our off-leash areas provide to the community and commerce.  If you and your dogs would like to participate, please email volunteerdogs(at)gmail.com.

Bark in the Park Was Larger Than Life

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

As far as we could tell, everyone had a fab time. We certainly did. The weather was fabulous. My favorite moments include judging the Peanut Butter Eating contest (how hard is that?) and hearing Cookie (the half-blind, double-dapple dachshund) and Courtney (the 5-year-old, harmonica-playing, pigtailed human) win the Bark and Howl Sing Along contest. We’re waiting to hear from event organizers to find out how the numbers added up: How many humans and dogs attended? How much money was raised for the new dog park in Anacortes? Which has it’s grand opening on July 11th, by the way.

Dog Photographer Jen Flynn at Plasteel Frames Gallery

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Popped by the opening of Jen’s show at Plasteel last night. It’s a lovely show of close-up pet portraits, she says, “a few of her faves” over the decade or so she’s been capturing pup mugs for posterity. It’s open until July 8. Stop by and get your fix of puppy luv, sweet luv.

Hello everybody! Guess where I’ll be this Saturday? I’ll be signing books at the 5th Annual Bark in the Park festival at Storvik Park in Anacortes. Come join us and many dogs and folks.

Silly contests! Raffles to win stuff! Goodie bags to the early arrivals! Games and more!

Last year, more than 300 dogs and 600 people came out for silly contests, booths, food, sun and fun. This year, The Dog Lover’s Companion to the Pacific Northwest will be there. All proceeds benefit the new dog park in Anacortes, scheduled for it’s grand opening in July.

See http://bit.ly/barkinpark for a complete Schedule of Events.
